 Tag for Facebook

What is Tag for Facebook?

Tag for Facebook offers a direct voice connection to Facebook users right from their profile page. Once you add Tag to your profile page anyone visiting your profile page can talk with you live. Up to 20 members can gather and talk together at the same time. You can visit somebody else’s profile page with Tag installed to talk with them and other members visiting their page.

Tag is free of charge and right now Tag is exclusively available to Facebook members.

How do I install and use Tag for Facebook?

To install Tag, first go to www.facebook.com and login to your Facebook account. Go to your profile page. On the left-hand side of your profile page, you’ll see the “Applications” list. Under that click on the words that say “Browse Applications.” Find Tag in the list of applications and click on it. That will take you to the Tag install application page. Click the button that says “add application.” Confirm that you want to add Tag to your profile page. You will then be taken to your profile page where Tag is now listed as one of your applications and you will find a black Tag box on the right-hand column at the bottom. Like all Facebook profile areas, you can move Tag wherever you’d like to on the page.

Click the “Connect” button to go live. You may first be asked by Adobe (because Tag uses the Flash Adobe player) to allow access to your camera and microphone (this is the default pop-up for Adobe Flash Player). Tag does not use a camera at all…just a microphone. You’ll want to click “Allow” and check “Remember” before closing the pop up.

After that, you’ll see your name appear on the lower left. The number in the lower right-hand corner of the Tag box tells you how many users are on your personal voice channel (they’ve clicked in to connect and talk). Technically, as long as somebody has their speakers turned up, they can hear you talk. Just click and hold the “push to talk” button to begin talking. Release the button when you’re done.
When you’re talking, you’ll see the “push to talk button” say “you are live” and the blue line (volume meter) across the bottom turn green, indicating that you (or somebody else) is talking. It will grow longer or shorter depending on how loud or soft your (or somebody else’s) recording volume is. You will also see the name of the person talking with a green dot next to it. If that person doesn’t have Tag installed, they will show up with the name “visitor.”

What do I need to use Tag?

The first thing you need to use Tag is a Facebook account.

Tag uses Adobe Flash Player. If you find you don’t have Flash installed in your browser, you can download it from Adobe:

After that, all you really need is a computer microphone and speakers or a headset. Because Tag uses live voice, you need a way to make your voice heard (microphone) and a way to hear others speak (speakers or headset).
