I’d like to try YackPack. How do I sign up?
Signing up for YackPack is simple and fast. Just go to www.yackpack.net and click on the “create account” button. Fill out the few informational pieces needed to set up your account and submit. You’ll be asked to confirm your email address, choose a password, and then go on to set up your first pack (group of people). YackPack is made for group communication and that’s why you’ll be prompted to create your first pack directly after registering.
To set up your first pack you may want to have the names and email addresses handy for the people you’d like to invite. You’ll be asked to enter their names and email addresses, type a quick email invitation to them, and then submit. Don’t worry if you don’t have everyone’s email address at first. You can always add people to the group later.

How much does YackPack cost?
During our Beta period, YackPack is free. We will always offer a free version, which truthfully will probably be supported by some form of advertising in the future.

What kind of computer do I need to use YackPack?
You can use a newer PC or a Macintosh with YackPack. It doesn’t matter if you have a laptop computer or a desktop computer. Both types can work.

What else do I need to use YackPack?
You will need a way to record audio (microphone) and hear it play back (speakers or headset). Some computers come with built-in microphones and speakers. If your computer does not have one or both of these features it is recommended that you purchase a microphone and add external speakers or connect a headset. Do I need to download or install anything to use YackPack?
No, there is no software to download or install to use YackPack. YackPack is browser-based, meaning that you just need an internet connection and a browser, such as Internet Explorer or Safari to use it.

What kind of internet connection do I need for YackPack?
YackPack works on a dial-up connection or a broadband connection. We can’t deny that YackPack works better and faster over a broadband connection such as DSL or cable but dial-up users can still enjoy all the biggest benefits of using YackPack.

How private are the yacks sent in my YackPack groups?
We’re concerned about your privacy too! To read our privacy policy, please go here: http://www.yackpack.com/privacy_policy.html. Yacks sent within a YackPack group stay in the group. You decide to whom a yack is sent. Nobody else can access that yack to play it back unless they are an invited member of your group. You also control your login and password information which can be updated and changed when needed. Just click your own blue “info” button and then click the “edit settings” button to update your password.

What about spam in YackPack?
You must be an invited member of a YackPack group to send a yack to anyone in that group. That means outsiders cannot send you audio messages in YackPack. In terms of email you may choose to receive email notifications from your YackPack group members when a yack is sent to you. You also have the option to receive important updates and information from YackPack. YackPack is proud to be CAN-SPAM compliant.
